Beautiful Light Sculpture

When light met with sculpture, a new sculpture beyond our imagination came. By now, many great light sculptures have been produced. And among them, some pieces are just like shining stars.

 1.

A glass-applique window is installed at the south facade of the railway station. The sun projects this coloured ellipse onto the hall, moving with time of day and day of year. This 'Ellipse of Light' is the essence of the project.
Jan van Belkum architect of the station and Joost van Santen received together the 'Brunel Award' for the railway station in Hilversum the Netherlands for outstanding visual design in public railway transport.

2.

Coloured light from a circular window reaches a golden column once a day. Light installations in hall an tower of the building. The project has been developed in close collaboration with architect Jan van Belkum. Jan van Belkum and Joost van Santen received the 'Brunel Award' for outstanding visual design in public railway transport. A Special Award in support of the Best Integration of Modern Art into the Railway.

3.

A bench is designed as a light sculpture. Sunlight projects the colours of the glass pane onto the street. This sunlight projection is the essence of the project. As a limited edition design each bench will have a individual coloured glass design.

4.

This is a Light Sculpture by AntiVJ, a visual label. These projections on 3D objects are really neat! It was on display during Transmediale 2007, a festival for art and digital culture in Berlin. The sculpture itself, "Halbzeug", was made by visomat inc. You probably want to check Pablo Valbuena's work too if you like this.

5.

Rainbow reflections in waiting room. The commission was the result of a 'Recommandation for Realisation' of the 'Concours artistique par appel Radiologie hopitaux Université de Geneve Suisse'.
